Project 1 - focal length and angle of view

image 3694 1/80 sec f5 50mm

image 3695 1/100 sec f5.6 18mm

image 3695 1/40 sec f5.6 200mm
I took the 3 photos standing just outside my back door and looking down towards the garden.
Image 3694 was taken with both my eyes open so that what I could see through the viewfinder appeared the same size as what I could see through my left eye.
Image 3695 was taken at the lens's widest setting.
Image 3696 was taken atthe longest end of the telephot setting.
For the second part of the project I had to hold the printed image 3694 approximately 54cm from my eye for the objects to appear the same size as my view of the real scene. It was difficul to measure exactly as I was alone doing this project!
Image 3695 had to be held approximately 23cm away from my eye for the same to happen.
I therefore imagine that I would have to hold the printed image 3696 2 metres awy for the objects to appear the same size as the real view.
note - project completed 10 9 09
